WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT THE EVALUATION?
You and your child will arrive 15 minutes before the appointment to finalize or review the documentation, copy your insurance card, and make your copay / payment for the evaluation. During the evaluation, the clinician will talk with you about your concerns then spend time with your child assessing his/her skills. The evaluation usually lasts one hour but there may need to be additional testing days if there are multiple tests to complete. When the evaluation is finished, the clinician will review results if testing is complete and may recommend therapy to start the following week. Sometimes we may recommend that your child consult with other professionals (ENT, pediatric dentist, orthodontist, GI, dietitian, etc.). The clinician will walk you to the front desk where the scheduler will check you out and help you make the first therapy appointment.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED A PRIOR AUTHORIZATION AFTER THE ASSESSMENT?
If a prior authorization is required by your insurance company, we will send all the documentation to the insurance company with a request for therapy. It may take up to 14 business days to complete the authorization process. Once we have been notified that therapy has been approved or denied we will contact you. You should schedule your initial appointment 3 weeks from the date of the initial assessment.
DOES INSURANCE COVER THERAPY?
While MPTC is ‘in network’ with most major insurance companies and government pay sources, there is no guarantee that insurance will cover the type of therapy recommended. We encourage you to contact your insurance carrier for your plan details.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY DOCTOR?
Sometimes a referral from the physician is needed for an assessment. Each insurance provider and plan has specific requirements. However, we do need to demonstrate medical necessity for all therapy which means that your medical doctor needs to sign our treatment plan every three months.
WE HAD AN EVALUATION AT ANOTHER CENTER…CAN WE USE THIS AT MPTC?
Maybe. We may accept an evaluation completed by another medical clinic if it is within 6 months and covers the area of concern. We do not accept school evaluations.
WHEN WILL I RECEIVE A STATEMENT?
Pillar Services and Consulting will send statements on the 1st of each month.
HOW DO I PAY MY BILL?
You may stop by the front desk to make a payment, mail a check payable to MPTC and include your child’s name in the memo, send the statement with the credit card information, call either Pillar at 218-297-1020 or MPTC at 763-595-0812 to make a payment over the phone with a credit card or HSA card. Do not mail cash.
MY CHILD IS SICK, SHOULD I CANCEL THEIR APPOINTMENT?
Yes! We don’t like to share germs at MPTC. As a general rule of thumb, if your child stayed home from school, or came home early, they shouldn’t come to therapy. If your child has had a fever, they must be without a fever AND without medication for 24 hours before coming in for an appointment. We understand that sickness can be unpredictable and ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you have to miss an appointment.
IF WE CAN’T MAKE AN APPOINTMENT, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Call 763-595-0812 as soon as you know you need to cancel. We ask that all non-emergency cancellations be made more than 24 hours in advance to avoid a late cancellation fee of $50.
IF WE MISS OUR APPOINTMENT WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Call 763-595-0812 and reschedule your appointment to later that week to reduce the $100 no show fee down to $50.
DOES MPTC CLOSE FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER?
Sometimes we will close for inclemental weather. We do NOT follow the school calendars so do not assume we are closed if your school is closed. When we close due to weather, we will post on Facebook, our website, and call all families who will be affected by the closure. DO YOU HAVE APPOINTMENTS IN THE EVENING OR ON THE WEEKEND?
We have appointments starting at 7:45 am and as late as 5:30 pm, but do not offer any on the weekends. We do offer flex scheduling options in which you can call the office as your schedule allows to see if we have any open appointments. Please ask our schedulers about this option if you are having difficulty finding a regular time that works for you.
