I am passionate about supporting children to succeed in communication. Communication is a fundamental component of our everyday lives and so I strive to support children in all modalities of communication. We establish relationships, express our desires and dreams, and participate in activities all while using communication.
Areas of Expertise: I have experience in working with the pediatric population in the following areas: articulation, phonology, expressive and receptive language, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), social communication, and executive functioning. I create a play-based therapy environment while using the child’s strengths to work towards their goals.
Education/Certification: I received my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders from the University of Missouri – Columbia and received my Master’s degree in Communication Science and Disorders from The University of Wisconsin – Madison. I hold my Certificate of Clinical Competency through the American Speech – Language and Hearing Association (ASHA).
Specialized Training: I have training in the Cycles approach, Dynamic Temporal Training, gestalt language processing, and the Social Thinking curriculum. I have supported children and their families using a wide variety of AAC devices. Currently I am getting trained in Talk Tools: 3 Part Treatment Plan for OPT and OPT Assessment and Program Plan Development.
