Speech Therapy
Language Therapy
– MPTC provides language therapy to children
exhibiting many different challenges. Language
therapy may target receptive language
(comprehension), expressive language
(expression/use), pragmatic language (social language
skills), or a combination of language areas that are
affecting the child’s ability to communicate
effectively. Language goals generally address
deficits identified in the following areas:
- Functional language development (communication
of basic wants/needs)
- Semantics and vocabulary development
- Grammar and syntax comprehension and use
- Processing of spoken language (recall of
information, following directions, question
processing)
- Social skills building for social
interactions
- Higher-level cognitive linguistic skills
(categorization, comparing/contrasting,
making inferences, understanding and using humor, and
problem-solving).
